As most of you know, Entrecard is the latest greatest thing in blogging - according to some. Entrecard allows you to create a digital business card and then drop it on the blogs of other people. Those people, after seeing your drop, will often visit your site and drop their card on your site. You get credit for each drop you make. You can use the credits to advertise on the blogs of others and you can get credits when people want to advertise on your site. Sounds great right? Well there is another thing you can use Entrecard for – promoting your old or barely seen blog posts!

Entrecard allows you to specify the page that people are taken to when they click on your card. You can change that url to the url of a great blog post you have that you want people to see. Maybe you wrote the post on a day when nobody was using the Internet and no one saw your post :-), maybe you wrote the post at a time when you had very little traffic and no one saw the post, maybe you wrote it and forgot to submit it to social networks and no one saw the post. Whatever the reason, you can use Entrecard to direct people to it. Here is how you would do it.

First, go through your site and get the urls of posts that you want to promote. These posts should be quality posts – not just old posts that didn't become popular. Remember you are trying to attract and retain readers from the Entrecard droppers. We Entrecard droppers have short attention spans when it comes to visiting and dropping. If something catches our eye, we will stop and read, otherwise it's look, drop, go!

Next you need to log into your account at Entrecard and change the url. You can do this from the main dashboard screen if you scroll down until you get to the area that looks like this.

Press edit, enter the url of the article you are going to promote and then save your changes.

That's it!

People will now see that article when they click on your Entrecard business card. The benefit of this should be obvious. If you have posts that you want to promote a little more than others, you can use the Entrecard system to allow people to see those articles AND build traffic to those articles that will count with Google. The one issue to using this system is that you can only promote one url at a time. However, if you use a page that has other links on it, you can direct users to those articles as well. Even power droppers will stop and look if it is something that is really interesting to them.

Spend some time rotating your articles with Entrecard. Use the system to your advantage. Some people have suggested that Entrecard is a bad idea because big name bloggers can use it to drive traffic to their blogs. The truth is that Entrecard puts everyone on a level playing field. You can use this system to your benefit with a little time and effort. Don't be afraid to try different things to get the most out of using Entrecard.
