ImageBy now practically everyone has heard of Flickr , posted on Flickr or viewed photos posted on Flickr. If you are like me, you’ve even downloaded a few photos from Flickr. For the two people who may not know, assuming that they read my blog, Flickr is the online photo community that allows you to post your photos, receive comments about your photos on your very own page, download photos from other people and leave comments on their pages, among other things. Now the innovative team that bought us into the world of photo sharing in a big way is taking us to another level in online photo management. With the swift click of a button, we can remove those red eyes. Need to crop that photo just a bit? Not a problem! Now you can do those things and a whole lot more photo editing online thanks to Flickr’s partnership with Picnik.

Picnik is a software company that creates online photo editing tools.

Picnik's tools are compatible with Flickr in addition to a number of other well known communities. Facebook, PhotoBucket, Webshots and Picasa are all Picnik friendly places. Getting started with Picnik on Flickr is simple. All you have to do is install Picnik on your Flickr account. The instructions are simple and the install is easy. The service doesn’t download anything on your computer. A few clicks and you are ready to turn your ordinary photos into glamorous masterpieces. Although the features are fantastic, and the service does exactly what it is supposed to do, I don’t think you should put your Adobe Photoshop aside just yet. Picnik is excellent for basic edits, however, Photoshop is still the defacto standard for the professional photo artist.

One of the beautiful things about this service is that it takes place server side. That means that you don’t use up your memory trying to make simple photo edits. It’s quick, simple and efficient. Not to mention easy. If you need to make those pictures look a little better or adjust a few things in your photos, then the Flickr/Picnik combination is sure to please. You can find out more about this exciting dynamic duo by visiting the Flickr blog . You can also learn more about Picnik here .
Happy online photo editing!

After you create some magical pictures, come back and leave a link to your Flickr page in the comments area.
