 Do you have a real passion for writing? Do you want to establish backlinks to your blog? Do you want to increase your exposure and establish yourself as an authority for a particular topic? Do you want to create targeted marketing efforts based on keywords using an easy to use tool that requires minutes to set up? If you answer yes to any of the above, you are ready for Hub Pages.
HubPages are mini-web pages that you create that contains content that you create. The content can be about anything. It can be an article about marketing, one of your hobbies or anything else you want to talk about. The beautiful thing about HubPages is that you can create a fantastic, keyword rich article about anything and establish a great marketing campaign for your site or for any product you are trying to promote. In addition to that, you can earn income from your hubpage by including Adsense, eBay and Amazone items on it. In this lesson, I'm going to tell you how to build a hubpage that will allow you to promote any product that you are trying to promote and make money. In future lessons we will examine how you can use additional resources along with hubpages to make even more money.
How To Build A HubPage The first step in your effort to build a hubpage is creating an account. You can create your login so you can build your hubpage here.
If you have a Google Adsense account, you need to include that information in your setup. Doing this will allow you to earn revenue from the hubpages you build. If you don't know your Adsense account number, you can get it from the upper right hand corner of the Google Adsense page after you sign in. It is referred to as the Publisher ID and it starts with 'pub-'. If you don't have a Google Adsense account, click here to set up one. Don't skip this step if you don't have an account! You will hamper your ability to make money.
If you aren't using Google Analytics for your site, you should be. The ID they are looking for is the ID that you use in your tracking code. It looks like UA-xxxxxxx-x. Each x should be replaced with your number. If you don't have Google Analytics, skip this step.
Adding your Amazon code will allow you to link your ID into the HubPages system and get paid when someone purchases from your Hub.
Adding your eBay code will allow you to link your ID into the HubPages system and get paid when someone purchases an eBay item through your Hub.
After you have entered your affiliate information, you can start a new hub by clicking on My Account in the upper right corner of the page. Doing this will show you a big red arrow with the title 'start a new hub'.
The next page that displays is the initial hub page. Here you can set up a title. The title should be 120 characters or less with no HTML or quotation marks. Remember that setting up a hub title is just like setting up an article title for your blog – the better title, the more traffic. The next thing to do is to assign an address to your hub. The hub you build will be reached by typing in http://www.hubpages.com/hub/WhateverYouDecideGoesHere. This allows you to set up a url that is relevant to what you are writing about. This is good for search engines and can help you communicate the point of your article through your url. You can't have spaces, quotation marks or slashes in your url. After you include your address, it's time for your tags. You are given 3 lines to use for your tags, however, you can add a lot more. Tags allow you to describe your hub using keywords. This is important for search engines. You cause suggested tags or create your own. Tags are just words that describe what your article is about. If you aren't sure about which keywords to use for your topic, spend some time thinking about words that are related to your topic and research those words with the SEO Book keyword tool. Add as many keywords as you can that relate to what you are talking about. You can locate the tool by clicking here.
After you finish step 7 and press Continue, it's time to go over the rules. No Spam No Adult Items (Nudity, Sexual Explicit Stuff, Porn, etc) No Gambling No Unfinished Hubs No Deception English Only No Copied Content
The next step is to assemble capsules to create your hub. The capsules you can add include text, photos, comments, news, RSS and revenue capsules. In addition to your capsules, you can add a summary that tells people what your hub is about. This is like a description you use for your website. You can define your hub as commercial and decide the relative quantity of ads that will be displayed on your hub. The choices are none, low, medium and high. The more ads you use, the more money you will make. You can also specify the order in which your capsules will appear on your hubpage.
Once you have added the content to your hub, you can preview your hubpage and then publish your hubpage.
That's it! You have published your first hubpage! HubPages offer a wonderful way to promote things. Just remember to create quality content for hubpages. Now that you know how simple it is to build a hubpage, you may be asking yourself how you can take advantage of HubPages.
