Many people have asked me why I had such a dark layout on my site. I am, after all, a bright and sunny person :-). Well I can honestly say that I only had one reason for that layout -it was a placeholder while I got my mind together and figured out how I wanted PureBlogic to look. You know, it’s funny how we agonize about different things. I’m a programmer and web designer and, among other things, I own a company that creates web sites & custom software. When it comes to other people’s projects, I can whip something out without any agony at all. When it comes to my own sites, I agonize about the smallest details. Sometimes I take a long time to finish things for myself because I can’t decide which designs I like the best. I go back and forth, and forth and back and then forth, and back all over again. I put PureBlogic out there even though the look wasn’t perfect, or even nice :-), because I didn’t want PureBlogic to be just something I intended to do. Sometimes you just have to pull the trigger, stop analyzing everything and put things in place as you go. That was/is my lesson.

So I was very busy today. Not only did I add a new look to PureBlogic, I also added a little graphic to MyBlogLog profile. That bland smiley face was getting old. I read this article over at WordPlay on getting people to visit your site by having an interesting image on your profile and it spoke to me. I knew everything in the article, but, knowing and doing are two different things :-). Now I’ve stopped being another gray face in the crowd! Anyway, updating my sight today resulted in an unintentional issue. I submitted PureBlogic to a number of sites that have to approve your site before they will allow you to join. In hindsight, I should have waited until I changed the site anyway - but I didn’t :-(. It seems that some of those sites reviewed my site today of all days! Why couldn't they do it when I actually submitted my site? HaHaHa…the jokes on me! At different points today, during my updates, the site didn’t display correctly and, at other times, it just looked crazy. I jumped the gun on that one. That’s another lesson.

Next time I will update the site at night and start submitting after I have the look I want. I guess I won’t be making any money with any of those sites ;-). Maybe I’ll send a polite email begging for a second look – maybe not! Anyway, thank you for waiting on me while I got my look together. Now I can get back to creating content and not worrying about how I look while I’m trying to do it. Posted by Kila Morton
